Use the exit point as a signal

Group abandoners by the last step they reached, such as shipping, payment or review. Write a different, useful message for the largest group first rather than varying everything at once.

Note where the data is weak. A shopper who left at payment may have been interrupted, not discouraged.

Answer the likely obstacle

If delivery timing is the common stopping point, show delivery options. If cost surprises people, state it earlier in the journey, not only after they leave. Fix the checkout itself where the problem is the page, not the follow-up.

Respect consent and stop rules

Confirm that the shopper agreed to be contacted, stop the sequence once they buy or return, and cap the number of messages. Never imply that a limit or discount exists when it does not.

What remains unknown

No real recovery rate, baseline, or revenue change has been measured here. The proposed sequence is a hypothesis to test.
