# Sample onboarding audit and handoff

Outcome Driven / Growth Fix — https://outcomedriven.xyz/saas-onboarding-audit/

Fictional scenario for explaining a deliverable. This is not client work, a completed implementation, or a measured result.

## 1. Journey and useful result
Product: a fictional reporting tool. Journey: signup to a first usable report.
Customer result: answer a business question using the customer's own authorized data.
Exploring a sample report is an intermediate step, not proof of activation.

## 2. Starting observation (fictional)
The welcome email links to an empty dashboard. Six navigation options appear, with no visible first task. New users must connect a data source before they can see an example output.

## 3. Hypothesis to investigate
An accessible sample report may make the product's purpose and next step easier to understand. Validate this with intended users; do not assume the screen causes low activation.

## 4. Proposed scope
If a safe sample-report destination already exists, change one welcome email's link and supporting copy to explain what the user can do there. Confirm access, permissions, and feasibility before agreeing the engagement. Building a new sample-data system is separate work.

## 5. Proposed copy
Subject: See what your first report can tell you
Body: Open the sample report to explore the output. When you are ready to answer your own question, connect an approved data source using the next-step guide.
Action: Explore the sample report

## 6. Acceptance checks
- A new test account can open the intended sample without special permissions.
- The destination contains only approved sample data.
- The link, next step, and message are readable on mobile.
- Completed users do not receive an inappropriate reminder.
- An incomplete test account follows the intended reminder path.
- Save the prior message version and confirm the restoration steps.

## 7. Measurement plan
Record the baseline before the change. Define eligible signups, the useful-result event, the observation window, and exclusions. Track sample exploration separately from a real completed report. Watch support requests and unsubscribe behavior. Do not call a before/after difference causal without an appropriate study design.

## 8. Handoff record (complete during real work)

QA evidence:
Rollback location and steps:
Baseline counts and denominator:
Review date and observation window:
Decision: keep / revise / revert / collect more evidence
